Professor Billings Speaks About Lincoln's Early Years in Kentucky

Jan 16, 2009 - Chase Professor Roger Billings gave a presentation this afternoon in the Otto Buddig Theater on the topic, "Abraham Lincoln: Always a Kentuckian."

Professor Billings has made a long-term study of Lincoln and his life as a lawyer and is an avid collector of books on Abraham Lincoln. He recently published an article in the Summer, 2005 issue of the Journal of Illinois History titled, "Lincoln, Debtor-Creditor Lawyer."

Professor Billings teaches Sales and Secured Transactions, Commercial Paper, Agency, Partnership and Employment Law, and European Community Law. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Akron. His special interests include the life of Abraham Lincoln and developments in the European Union, about which he wrote one of his books.

He taught at the University of Salzburg College of Law as a Fulbright Distinguished Professor in 2004, and frequently visits law schools and lawyers in Salzburg and Moscow.
