Nov 03, 2009 - The Transactional Law Practice Center will host guest speaker Ray Atkinson '07. He will discuss the topic, "How to Start a Transactional Law Practice."

Ray Atkinson graduated with honors with a degree in Business Administration from Thomas More College. He later returned to Thomas More College and graduated summa cum laude with a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA). After graduate school Mr. Atkinson earned his Juris Doctorate from NKU Chase College of Law in 2007.

During law school Mr. Atkinson was a member of the Mock Trial Team and participated in various regional competitions in Ohio and Kentucky. He was also the recipient of the Kentucky District Judges Award for Outstanding Trial Advocate during the 2004 - 2005 competition season.

Before joining Atkinson & Dasenbrock, Mr. Atkinson served as an executive for a professional services firm and brings over fifteen years of experience as a business professional to his practice. During his tenure as a business executive, Mr. Atkinson was responsible for the operations of multiple business units including corporate administration, finance and accounting, capital budgeting, contracts, general business, strategic planning, and employment administration. As a result, Mr. Atkinson understands first-hand the challenges that face small and medium sized businesses. This background allows Mr. Atkinson to handle a variety of business and transactional matters including, but not limited to, contracts, business entity creation, corporate and business documents, commercial lease review, and employment law. Many of Mr. Atkinson's clients consist of small businesses such as engineering firms, information technology firms, landscaping firms, martial arts schools, residential real estate leasing firms, convenience stores, recording studios, contractors, among others. Additionally, he assists individuals with last will and testaments and powers of attorney.

Mr. Atkinson is admitted to practice law in Ohio, Kentucky, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Atkinson is also an adjunct professor at Chase College of Law where he helps law students prepare for mock trial competitions. Mr. Atkinson has also volunteered his services to the Northern Kentucky Legal Aid Society and he is an active member of the Chase Inn of Court.
