Military Recruitment Information- "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

Students should be aware that the NKU Chase College of Law Career Development Office informs all employers that their participation in our law school recruiting activities is conditioned on their compliance with our Non-Discrimination Policy, which prohibits discrimination in school-administered programs on the basis of race, color, age, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, physical or mental disabilities, or status as a disabled veteran or veteran of the Vietnam Era. A copy of this policy is available at http://chaselaw.nku.edu/career_development/policies/non_discrimination.php.

However, federal law requires that the military services limit access based upon several considerations including sexual orientation. The resulting 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' policy of the Armed Forces permits gay individuals to serve only if they refrain from openly stating their sexual orientation. While these practices are inconsistent with the University's Non-Discrimination Policy, the Armed Forces are permitted to recruit on our campus for reasons approved by the AALS and set forth in Chase's Military Recruitment Policy available at http://chaselaw.nku.edu/career_development/policies/military_recruit.php. Students with questions should contact Lisa Moore at moorel1@nku.edu.
