CEA Welcomes Distinguished Practitioner in Residence Richard D. Lawrence '71

Sep 16, 2009 - Each semester the Center for Excellence in Advocacy invites a distinguished practitioner to visit the College of Law to interact with students, faculty and alumni in a variety of settings. This fall, the CEA is honored to welcome Richard D. Lawrence to NKU Chase.

Lawrence graduated from Chase in 1971 with honors. Since that time he has been self-employed, practicing in Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Courtroom accomplishments include the winning of an acquittal of a first-degree murder case at the age of 30 and record verdicts for the injured including two verdicts, which set state records. He has been recognized by the National Law Journal, Best Lawyers in America, and Super Lawyers. Two of his closing arguments have been published. His awards and honors are numerous, including: NKBA Outstanding Contribution to Legal Education, NKBA Most Distinguished Lawyer and NKBA Lifetime Achievement, the Peter Perlman Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year, AAJ's Wiedemann & Wysocki Medal Award twice for outstanding contribution to civil justice and the Dan Cullen Award for his efforts in representing brain injured children.
