Course Objectives:
*To comprehend and understand the basic biological concepts of the human body.
*To discuss the contemporary holistic health attitudes and practices.
*To apply critical thinking skills to an overview of a biological perspective of wellness.

Texts:
1. The Human Body in Health and Disease, Martini, Bartholomew, Welch: PrenticeHall Inc. 2000. (Required).
2. The Road Less Traveled. Peck, M. Scott, MD. Simon and Schuster. (Required)
 
 
Approach:
 3 to 5 sessions per week in lecture form; audio-visual materials utilized as needed; group discussions, guest speakers, impromptu educational methods implemented.

Attendance:
Each student is expected to attend each daily session. Any missed work will remain the student's responsibility.

Courtesy:
Cell phones, beepers, and other electronic gadgets are not to be active during class. Please request in advance for permission for a guest to attend. Children, 16 and under, may not be brought to class under any circumstances.

Testing:
*Pop Quizzes will be given at the immediate beginning of the session.
*3 regularly scheduled exams
*Comprehensive final

Quizzes 20% of total grade (average of all)
Exams 20% each of total grade
 Total %==100
A=90-100; B=80-89; C=70-79; D=60-69; F=59 and below

No make-up quizzes or exams . If you are late for a pop quiz, the verbal questions will not be repeated. Please do not disturb the class if you arrive late. Take a seat next to the entry wall quietly.
