General Tips

Hide your cluttered desktop and present a nice, clean background using Backdrop http://appsfromouterspace.com/backdrop/

Save bandwidth by using a solid color as a background for all the content you are sharing, including your desktop, presentation slides, etc. If you will be sharing your desktop to an online class, set your desktop background to a solid color. Desktops with patterns or photos will take far longer to "draw" on remote screens because of the bandwidth it requires to transmit to your participants. That beautiful photo of your toes in the sand at St. Croix? That's gonna take more bandwidth to share will your audience.
