NKU PICKED AS GLVC PRESEASON FAVORITE

Norse tabbed to win third consecutive GLVC title

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team has been selected as preseason favorites to capture the 2000 Great Lakes Valley Conference championship by league coaches.

The Norse, who return 10 starters from last year’s 22-3 team that advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four, are seeking their third consecutive GLVC Tournament championship. NKU received 11 of the possible 12 first-place votes to finish ahead of second-place Southern Illinois at Edwardsville in the poll.

NKU begins the 2000 season this Saturday at 2 p.m. against Minnesota State University in a match that will be played at Rolla, Mo.
