NKU WINS TWICE ON SATURDAY

Welter, Koralewski lead NKU past LSSU, Hillsdale

FINDLAY, Ohio - Cammi Welter recorded a career-high 32 kills Saturday as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Lake Superior State University, 30-27, 31-29, 27-30, 30-25, at the University of Findlay Tournament.

Welter converted the 32 kills in 55 attempts and had just four errors for a .509 hitting percentage. Kristin Koralewski added 16 kills and 22 digs for the Norse, while setter Andrea Lanham finished with 59 assists and three service aces.

NKU hit .400 in the fourth game to wrap up the victory over the Lakers. The Norse finished the match with a .333 hitting percentage.

NKU closed out the tournament with a 29-31, 35-33, 30-16, 30-19 win over Hillsdale (Mich.) College. Nicole Salisbury led the Norse (3-5) with 22 kills and a .419 hitting percentage.

Welter added 13 kills and 13 digs, while Koralewski recorded 11 kills, five service aces and 14 digs. Kaliana Kalache finished with nine kills and a .421 hitting percentage for the Norse, who completed the two-day event with a 3-1 record against teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The NKU volleyball program now has a 696-318 all-time record. This is the 29th season of competition for the Norse in volleyball.

NKU will play its home opener at 7 p.m. Wednesday night when Bellarmine University visits Regents Hall for a Great Lakes Valley Conference match. The Norse are the preseason favorite in the GLVC coaches poll.
