Koralewski gets 14 kills as Norse improve to 4-5 |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Kristin Koralewski recorded 14 kills and a .542 hitting percentage Wednesday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Bellarmine University, 30-18, 30-17, 30-27, in Regents Hall. Koralewski converted the 14 kills and had just one error in 24 attempts for NKU, which improved to 4-5 overall, 1-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. She also added three service aces and five digs as the Norse defeated Bellarmine for the 22nd consecutive time. NKU now leads the all-time series with Bellarmine (0-5, 0-1 GLVC) by a 46-8 margin. The Norse have not lost to Bellarmine since the 1992 GLVC Tournament. Maggie Pugh added eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage for NKU, while setter Andrea Lanham finished with 36 assists and 11 digs. Cammi Welter had eight kills and 12 digs for the Norse, and teammate Kaliana Kalache added eight kills and six blocks. The NKU volleyball program now has a 697-318 all-time record. The Norse can reach the 700-win plateau this weekend at home with three victories when they play host to the Great Lakes Region Crossover Tournament in Regents Hall. NKU will open that 18-team event at 5 p.m. Friday against Alderson-Broaddus College, and the Norse will later take on three-time defending Great Lakes Region champion Grand Valley State University at 7:30 p.m. NKU will close out the tournament on Saturday with matches against Ferris State University (12:30 p.m.) and Wheeling Jesuit University (5:30 p.m.). Grand Valley State is ranked No. 13 nationally in the latest NCAA Division II poll, while Wheeling Jesuit is ranked No. 21 in the nation. |
