NKU DEFEATS LEWIS IN FOUR GAMES

Koralewski, Salisbury combine for 41 kills, 39 digs

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Kristin Koralewski finished with 21 kills, 17 digs and a .487 hitting percentage Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Lewis University, 24-30, 30-21, 30-11, 30-17, in Regents Hall.

Nicole Salisbury added 20 kills, 22 digs and a .370 hitting percentage as NKU improved to 18-10 overall, 9-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Maggie Pugh had 14 kills and a .545 hitting percentage for the Norse, who completed the season sweep of Lewis (13-8 overall, 5-4 GLVC) with the victory.

After Lewis captured the opening game, NKU stormed back behind the play of Koralewski, Salisbury and Kaliana Kalache (11 kills, six blocks, .381 hitting percentage) to take the second frame by a 30-21 score. Lewis held a 3-1 advantage early in the third game, but NKU used a 15-0 run to take a commanding 16-3 lead and coasted to the win.

Koralewski finished off Lewis in the last game by collecting 10 kills in 15 attempts with just one error for a .600 hitting percentage. Salisbury added six kills in the final game, and Koralewski hammered down an attack to end the match off an assist from Sara Taylor.

The Norse hit .459 in the third game, followed by a .474 hitting percentage in the final stanza. For the match, NKU posted a .370 hitting percentage, while Lewis hit just .164.

Cammi Welter added 11 kills for NKU, and Taylor finished with a double-double (68 assists, 10 digs). Welter now has 1,416 career kills and ranks No. 5 on the NKU all-time list in that category.

Katie Gilman and Lisa Paasch each finished with 16 kills to lead Lewis.

NKU is ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region ratings, which were released Wednesday. The top six teams in that poll will advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament in November.

NKU will play host to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 2 p.m. Saturday in Regents Hall.
