NORSE ROLL PAST LEWIS IN THREE

NKU wins sixth straight match, improves to 16-8

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Don’t look now, but the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team is putting together one of its patented late-season runs.

And the Norse are building the momentum just in time for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, which begins in three weeks.

NKU continued its roll Friday night with a 30-24, 30-21, 30-22 win over Lewis University in Regents Hall. The Norse hit .367 and coasted to their sixth straight victory.

Kristin Koralewski finished with 19 kills, 14 digs and a .485 hitting percentage as NKU improved to 16-8 overall, 9-3 in the GLVC. Liz Holmes hammered down 16 kills and attacked at a .458 clip, while Tristen Dye added 10 kills and two service aces.

Koralewski now has 1,352 career kills at NKU, which ranks seventh in school history.

NKU opened the match with a 30-24 win as Holmes collected eight kills in nine attempts. Koralewski added seven kills in the opening game, while Maggie Pugh tallied five kills in the first stanza.

Setter Andrea Lanham directed the Norse offense and dished out a match-high 54 assists. Lanham also had six kills, six digs and a .455 hitting percentage.

Pugh finished with nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage for NKU, while Amber Timmons led the Norse defense with 17 digs. Lynne Fischesser added five kills and 12 digs as the Norse upped their lead in the all-time series with Lewis to 26-11.

Lewis (14-9 overall, 6-6 GLVC) hit just .200 for the match and lost the battle of digs by a 60-40 margin. Rochelle Ruen led the Flyers with nine kills.

NKU will play host to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 2 p.m. Saturday.
