NKU TO MEET SIUE ON FRIDAY |

Norse play host to Cougars in GLVC showdown |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will play host to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville at 7 p.m. Friday in Regents Hall. NKU owns a 12-6 overall record going into Friday, and the Norse are 5-0 and in first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. SIUE is 15-3 overall, 3-1 in the GLVC. NKU owns a 13-1 lead in the all-time series with SIUE, and the Norse defeated the Cougars in five games last season at Edwardsville, Ill. SIUEs only victory against NKU came on Sept. 25, 1998, when the Cougars pulled off a five-game upset of the Norse at Edwardsville, Ill. NKU will also play host to the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 2 p.m. Saturday. WELTER NEARS 1,300 KILLS: NKU senior right-side hitter Cammi Welter enters Friday with 1,298 career kills and ranks No. 6 on the Norses all-time list. Welter is also No. 6 in the GLVC in kills per game at 4.03. KORALEWSKI HONORED BY GLVC: NKUs Kristin Koralewski has been named GLVC co-Player of the Week in volleyball. Koralewski collected 65 kills, 52 digs and finished with a .403 hitting percentage in three matches last week as NKU posted a 2-1 record. She began the week with 26 kills, 18 digs and a .458 hitting percentage in a four-game loss to the University of Findlay. Koralewski led NKU to a pair of GLVC road victories over the weekend, beginning with a 17-kill, 13-dig performance during a four-game win at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday. She capped the week by recording 22 kills, 21 digs and a .488 hitting percentage Saturday as NKU swept Lewis University, 30-21, 30-22, 30-28, at Romeoville, Ill. Koralewski has now recorded double-doubles in eight consecutive matches, and she has notched double-doubles in 12 of her last 14 contests. She currently ranks No. 3 in the GLVC in kills per game (4.27), No. 4 in hitting percentage (.349) and No. 6 in service aces (0.47 sapg). Koralewski shared this weeks GLVC honor with Quincy Universitys Amber Heimann. |
