Koralewski finishes with 15 kills, 10 digs as Norse roll

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Kristin Koralewski collected 15 kills and 10 digs Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated the University of Southern Indiana, 30-20, 30-22, 30-24, in Regents Hall.

Koralewski also finished with a .500 hitting percentage and two blocks as NKU improved to 22-10 overall, 12-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Cammi Welter added 14 kills and two service aces as the Norse hit .395 as a team and won their seventh straight match.

NKU’s Nicole Salisbury added a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Kaliana Kalache finished with 10 kills and a .563 hitting percentage. Senior setter Sara Taylor had 48 assists and two service aces for NKU, which can clinch the No. 1 seed in the GLVC Tournament with a victory against Kentucky Wesleyan College on Saturday.

If NKU defeats Kentucky Wesleyan, the Norse will play host to the GLVC Tournament Nov. 13-15 in Regents Hall. NKU would play at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday against No. 8 seed University of Missouri-St. Louis in the first round.

Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville remained in contention for the No. 1 seed Friday with a road victory at Lewis University, but the Cougars need a win on Saturday against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and an NKU loss to earn the No. 1 seed in the GLVC Tournament.

Lynne Fischesser added 12 digs for NKU, which now holds a 29-7 lead in the all-time series against Southern Indiana. The Norse - who lost twice last year to Southern Indiana - own a 15-2 all-time record against the Screaming Eagles in Regents Hall.

Leeanne Gross led Southern Indiana (18-8, 7-6 GLVC) with 17 kills and a .457 hitting percentage.
