Norse begin season with road loss at Indianapolis |

INDIANAPOLIS - The Northern Kentucky University womens tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to the University of Indianapolis on Tuesday at the Greyhound courts. NKU, which captured the GLVC regular-season and postseason championships last fall, is now 0-1 overall, 0-1 in the GLVC. In No. 2 doubles, the Indianapolis duo of Jeannie Hartley and Laura Phillipp posted a 9-7 triumph over Kari Goodrich and Jessica Smith. At No. 1 doubles, Jessica Broadus and Ashley Liles defeated Lindsay England and Laura Leutzinger by an 8-4 score. NKU forfeited at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Indianapolis won the remaining five singles matches in straight sets. Liles beat Leutzinger, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Lindsey Fischer posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Goodrich in No. 2 singles. In No. 3 singles, Phillipp posted a 6-1, 6-1 triumph against England. Broadus won at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Smith, and Kristen Volz defeated Courtney Myers by a 6-0, 6-2 score in No. 5 singles. |
