NKU TO HOST UNBEATEN WHEELING JESUIT
Norse (3-1) play WJU (3-0) at 6 p.m. this Friday
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team, now 3-1 after posting a 2-0 victory against Lincoln Memorial University on Sunday, will play host to Wheeling Jesuit University (3-0) at 6 p.m. this Friday at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder.
NKU is second in the NCAA II Central Region ratings this week. Minnesota-Duluth (4-0) is ranked No. 1 in the Central Region.
Junior midfielder Tricia Ruark leads NKU in scoring with three goals and five assists. Ruark had three assists during the Norses 4-0 victory over Nebraska-Omaha last Friday.
Sophomore midfielder Bessie Black scored two goals in the win over Nebraska-Omaha. Black, a graduate of Scott High School and in her first year with NKU, now has four goals and an assist this season.
Sophomore forward Kristen Noakes scored her second goal of the season during the 2-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial on Sunday. Freshman Kendra Zinser has scored a pair of goals, and junior Betsy Moore has one goal and one assist. Junior midfielder Lori Kevill has two assists this season.
Junior goalie Lauren Piening owns a 1.45 goals against average in four in 311 minutes of action.
A YEAR AGO AGAINST WHEELING JESUIT: NKU posted a 4-0 win at Wheeling Jesuit last season as Betsy Moore scored three goals. Moore also added an assist in that victory. NKU leads the all-time series with Wheeling Jesuit, 2-0.
NKU BEGINS GLVC PLAY ON SEPT. 15: NKU will travel to play Missouri-St. Louis at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 in the Norses Great Lakes Valley Conference opener. NKU will also play at Quincy on Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.
After the road trip to Missouri-St. Louis and Quincy, the Norse will play at Kentucky Wesleyan on Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. NKU will return home on Sept. 24 to play Indianapolis at 3 p.m.
