Norse win road match to open GLVC play |

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Bessie Black and Adrienne Cavender both scored goals Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 2-0. Goalie Lauren Piening recorded the shutout and had four saves as NKU improved to 6-1 overall, 1-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Amanda Trout and Kristin Benson both recorded assists for the Norse, who are the two-time defending GLVC champions and ranked No. 4 nationally in the Division II poll. Black started the scoring for the Norse 23 minutes into the match off an assist from Trout. NKU sealed the victory with seven minutes left in the match when Cavender found the net off an assist from Benson. NKU - which has now won five consecutive matches - will play at Quincy University at 4 p.m. on Sunday. NKU 2, UMSL 0 GOALS: NKU-Black, Cavender. SHUTOUT: Piening (4 saves). RECORDS: NKU 6-1, 1-0 GLVC; UMSL 2-4, 0-1 GLVC. |
