NKU DEFEATS WHEELING JESUIT, 3-1 |

Norse improve to 4-1 with victory |

WILDER, Ky. - Betsy Moore, Tricia Ruark and Denise Kunz all scored goals Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team defeated Wheeling Jesuit University, 3-1, at the Town & Country Sports Complex. Ruark also added an assist as NKU improved to 4-1 and handed Wheeling Jesuit (3-1) its first loss of the season. The Norse now own a 3-0 lead against Wheeling Jesuit in the all-time series. Moore opened the scoring for NKU just 11 minutes into the match with with a header off an assist from Ruark. NKU built a 2-0 lead 10 minutes later when Ruark scored on a shot from 30 yards out. After WJU cut the lead to 2-1 early in the second half, Kunz gave NKU a 3-1 cushion with a goal off assists from Jeanna Martin and Bessie Black. NKU will travel to Erie, Pa., on Sunday to meet Mercyhurst College at noon. NKU 3, WJU 1 GOALS: Moore, Ruark, Kunz. WJU-Da Silva. RECORDS: NKU 4-1, WJU 3-1. |
