ERIE, Pa. - Junior forward Betsy Moore scored a school-record four goals Sunday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team defeated Mercyhurst (Pa.) College, 6-2. She scored three times in the second half - goals at 53:49, 63:01 and 74:22 - as the Norse defeated Mercyhurst for the third time in the past two seasons. A year ago, Moore scored two goals against Mercyhurst during a 3-0 NKU win in the regular season, and she added two assists in a 3-1 Norse victory over the Lakers in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Sophomore midfielder Bessie Black gave NKU a 1-0 lead five minutes into the match Sunday off an assist from Moore. After Melissa Poliseno tied the match with a goal for Mercyhurst (1-1-1), Moore began her school-record scoring performance as NKU coasted to the victory. NKU will begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play this Friday night at 8:30 p.m. with a match at Missouri-St. Louis.
