WILDER, Ky. - Amanda Trout and Jeanna Martin both scored goals Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team defeated the University of Southern Indiana, 2-0, at the Town & Country Sports Complex. Goalie Lauren Piening picked up the shutout and had three saves for NKU, which won its 10th consecutive match. The Norse - ranked No. 4 nationally in the Division II poll - are now 11-1 overall, 6-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Southern Indiana is 9-2 overall, 5-1 in the GLVC. Trout gave NKU a 1-0 lead 14 minutes into the match with a goal, and Martin sealed the victory for the Norse late in the second half by beating USI goalie Aude de La Salle for a score that was assisted by both Eva Broeg and Adrienne Cavender. Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (11-3, 7-0 GLVC) will visit NKU at 3 p.m. on Sunday for a match at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder. NKU and SIUE will battle for sole possession of first place in the GLVC in that match. NKU 2, USI 0 GOALS: NKU-Trout, Martin. SHUTOUT: Piening (3 saves).
