NKU TO MEET CMSU, TRUMAN STATE

Norse travel to Missouri for non-conference matches this weekend

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team, now 14-1-2 overall, will play a pair of non-conference matches at Kirksville, Mo., this weekend.

NKU, which clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament with an 8-0 victory against Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, will face Central Missouri State University (10-4) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Norse will also play Truman State University (12-3) at noon on Sunday.

NKU is ranked No. 12 nationally in the Division II poll and No. 2 in the NCAA II Central Region ratings.

NKU will host the GLVC Tournament semifinals and finals Nov. 4-5 at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky. The semifinals will be played at noon and 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 4. The championship match will be played at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 5.

NKU will play in the noon match on Nov. 4 against the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 seed match. That first-round contest will be played on Nov. 1 on the campus of the No. 4 seed.

Tricia Ruark leads NKU in scoring with eight goals and 15 assists. Ruark ranks No. 2 in scoring in the GLVC with 31 points. Betsy Moore, who scored a pair of goals during Sunday's win against IPFW, now has nine goals and three assists this season. Bessie Black ranks No. 3 on the team in scoring with eight goals and four assists. Jeanna Martin has six goals and five assists.

NKU goalie Lauren Piening has a 0.56 goals against average and five shutouts.
