Norse post 8-0 win over IPFW to earn regular-season title |

WILDER, Ky. - Betsy Moore and Jill Johannigman scored two goals apiece Sunday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team defeated Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, 8-0, at the Town & Country Sports Complex. With the victory, NKU clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Norse, now 14-1-2 overall, improved to 9-0-2 in the GLVC. NKU will host the semifinals and finals of the GLVC Tournament Nov. 4-5. The Norse jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead on Sunday as Moore scored a pair of goals - both assisted by Jeanna Martin. Malissa Stevenson, Johannigman - who also had an assist on Sunday - and Adrienne Cavender also added goals before halftime. In the second half, Johannigman, Tricia Ruark and Bessie Black all scored goals as the Norse wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the GLVC Tournament. Ruark also added two assists on Sunday. NKU is ranked No. 12 nationally in the Division II poll. NKU 8, IPFW 0 GOALS: NKU-Moore 2, Johannigman 2, Stevenson, Cavender, Black, Ruark. SHUTOUT: Piening, Zalla (1 save).
