NORSE POST 1-0 WIN OVER SJC

NKU can wrap up No. 1 seed in GLVC Tournament on Sunday

WILDER, Ky. - Kristen Noakes scored a goal with two minutes remaining in regulation Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team defeated Saint Joseph’s College, 1-0, at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Noakes shot came from directly in front of the goal and was assisted by both Denise Kunz and Tricia Ruark. NKU - which outshot Saint Joseph’s by a 23-2 margin - improved to 13-1-2 overall, 8-0-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

NKU is tied with Southern Illinois at Edwardsville (8-0-2) for first place in the league standings, but if the Norse defeat Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne at 3 p.m. on Sunday, they will earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament.

NKU holds the tie-breaker with SIUE because of its win over Southern Indiana. The No. 1 seed in the GLVC Tournament receives a first-round bye and is the host for the semifinals and finals.

NKU is now ranked No. 12 nationally in the Division II poll.
