NKU WINS THIRD STRAIGHT GLVC TITLE

Norse now 18-1-2 after a 4-1 win over Missouri-St. Louis

WILDER, Ky. - Lori Kevill and Molly Eagan both scored first-half goals Sunday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team won its third consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship with a 4-1 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Kevill gave NKU (18-1-2) a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the match with a goal that was assisted by Bessie Black and Betsy Moore. Eagan made it 2-0 at the 32:49 mark by beating Missouri-St. Louis goalie Meghan Kenney for a goal that was assisted by Amanda Trout and Tricia Ruark.

NKU wrapped up the GLVC title in the second half as Moore and Adrienne Cavender both scored unassisted goals. Missouri-St. Louis (12-8-1) avoided the shutout when Dana Thompson scored a goal with 42 seconds remaining in the match.

Pairings for the NCAA Division II Tournament will be announced Monday night, and NKU will learn who it will play in the first round and the site for the opening match. The Norse are ranked No. 6 nationally in the Division II poll.
