NKU defeats Truman State, 2-0, for return trip to Final Four

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Betsy Moore scored two first-half goals Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team defeated Truman State University, 2-0, in the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals.

Goalie Megan Zalla recorded the shutout and had eight saves as NKU (22-1) earned its third straight trip to the NCAA Division II Final Four. The Norse now own a 4-0 lead against Truman State (18-3) in the all-time series.

NKU took a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the match when Moore beat Truman State goalie Emily Huyck for a goal that was assisted by Jeanna Martin. Moore gave the Norse a 2-0 advantage at the 17:41 mark with her second goal of an assist from Kendra Zinser.

Huyck entered Saturday’s match with NKU having posted 14 shutouts in 2001, and she was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association most valuable player this season.
