WILDER, Ky. - Amy Law scored three goals Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team posted a 6-0 win over Gannon (Pa.) University at the Town & Country Sports Complex. Michelle Kelly, Katie Hanck and Jamie Reynolds also scored goals as NKU improved to 3-1-1. The Norse allowed Gannon (1-3) just two shots and controlled play the entire match. Kelly gave the Norse a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game by heading in a perfectly placed corner kick from Reynolds. Hanck made it 2-0 at the 24:36 mark when she found the net by finishing off a corner kick by Amy Martini. Law tallied all three of her goals in the second half to become just the fourth freshman in Norse history to record a hat trick. Brittany Evans (1997), Jeanna Martin (1998) and Betsy Moore (1998) also scored three goals in a game as freshmen. Hanck and Kendra Zinser added assists for NKU, which outshot Gannon by an 18-2 margin. The Norse also attempted nine corner kicks. The Norse will play host to Mercyhurst (Pa.) College - which played Quincy University to a 1-1 tie Friday - at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. CLICK HERE FOR BOX SCORE |
