HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team will play host to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament semifinals and championship this weekend at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.

NKU, 15-2-2 overall and the No. 1 seed in the GLVC, will meet fourth-seeded University of Missouri-St. Louis (13-5-1) at 4 p.m. Friday. In the other semifinal, No. 2 seed University of Wisconsin-Parkside (13-2-3) will meet third-seeded University of Indianapolis (11-5-2) at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The Norse limited the eighth-seeded Cougars to just one shot the entire match and extended their unbeaten streak against GLVC opponents to 55 with the victory.

NKU is now 50-0-5 against GLVC teams during the past four years. The Norse have not lost to a GLVC opponent since Oct. 9, 1999, when SIUE posted a 3-1 win over NKU.

The Norse are seeking their sixth straight GLVC Tournament championship. NKU has never lost (14-0 all-time) in the GLVC Tournament.

NKU is currently ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region poll. The top four teams in the regional poll will advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament in November.

The Norse defense, which is led by junior sweeper Robyn Withers, enters Friday with 10 shutouts this season. NKU, ranked No. 18 nationally in the Division II poll, is also 11-0-1 in its last 12 matches.
