Six Norse players receive NSCAA honors |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Six Northern Kentucky University womens soccer players have earned All-Central Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Lauren Piening, Jeanna Martin, Tricia Ruark, Betsy Moore and Amanda Trout were named first team All-Central Region by the NSCAA, and senior Malissa Stevenson was named second team All-Central Region. Those six players helped NKU post a 21-2-2 record and advance to the NCAA Division II national championship match. Piening, a junior goalie, posted a 0.61 goals against average and had seven shutouts this season. Martin, a junior forward, scored eight goals and had six assists. Ruark, a junior midfielder who also was named GLVC Player of the Year, led NKU in scoring with 42 total points. Moore, a junior forward, scored a team-leading 15 goals. Trout, a junior defender, scored nine goals and had eight assists. Stevenson, a senior defender, had two goals this season and was the leader of the NKU defense. NKU also captured its third consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference championship this season and finished with a No. 2 national ranking. |
