NORSE OPEN SEASON WITH 3-0 WIN

Hanck scores goal, adds two assists as NKU defeats Concord (W. Va.)

WILDER, Ky. - Katie Hanck scored a goal and added two assists Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team posted a 3-0 victory over Concord (W. Va.) University at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Amy Law opened the scoring for NKU 19 minutes into the contest with a goal that was assisted by Hanck. The Norse upped the advantage to 2-0 at the 68:43 mark when Hanck beat Concord goalie Kim Chipps with a score that was assisted by Jayme Light.

Laura Monterosso capped the scoring for NKU by scoring off a rebound at the 76:59 mark. NKU goalie Lauren Piening picked up the shutout for NKU, which won its seventh consecutive season opener.

NKU controlled field position the entire game and held a 23-1 advantage in shot attempts. It marked the first meeting ever between NKU and Concord in women’s soccer.

NKU will meet the University of Findlay at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilder. Findlay improved to 1-0 Friday with a 1-0 victory against Bellarmine University.
