Norse improve to 5-0 with 96-64 win over Lewis |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Michelle Cottrell scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds Thursday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated Lewis University, 96-64, in Regents Hall. Heather Livingstone added 18 points as NKU (5-0, 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference) won its 29th consecutive game dating back to last season. The Norse have not lost since Jan. 8, 2000, when Bellarmine posted a 76-72 win against NKU in Regents Hall. NKU, ranked No. 1 nationally in the Division II poll, shot 52.9 percent from the field, and the Norse held Lewis to 42.1 percent from the field. NKU made 37 of 49 free throw attempts and forced Lewis into 29 turnovers. Amy Mobley (11 points), Bridget Flanagan (11 points), Jessica Jenson (10 points) and Michele Tuchfarber (10 points) also scored in double figures for NKU. |
