NKU senior named Player of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Michelle Cottrell has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week. Cottrell averaged 23.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and shot 78.9 percent from the floor in two victories to earn the honor. Cottrell, a first team All-America selection the past two years, began the week by scoring 27 points (9 of 10 from the field) and grabbing 13 rebounds as NKU defeated NAIA power Georgetown (Ky.), 70-54, on Tuesday. She came back to score 20 points and grab 11 rebounds during a 74-43 win at Lewis on Saturday. It was Cottrell’s 38th career double-double.
