Cottrell scores 26 points to lead unbeaten Norse (4-0) |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Junior forward Michelle Cottrell scored 26 points Sunday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University, 84-51, in the championship game of the inaugural Community Recorder Classic in Regents Hall. NKU (4-0) built a 44-24 halftime lead by shooting 53.3 percent from the field. Heather Livingstone (14 points, six assists), Michele Tuchfarber (13 points, three steals) and Amy Mobley (six points, three assists, two blocked shots) joined Cottrell on the All-Tournament Team from NKU. NKU won the rebounding battle by a 38-21 margin and held Christian Brothers (1-3) to just 35.4 percent shooting from the field. Dana Schubeler grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Norse. NKU, the defending NCAA Division II national champion, has now won 28 consecutive games dating back to last season. The Norse have not lost since Jan. 8, 2000, when Bellarmine posted a 76-72 win against NKU in Regents Hall. NKU is ranked No. 1 nationally in the Division II poll.
