ERIE, Pa. - Sophomore forward Kristin Polosky came off the bench and scored 17 points Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated Edinboro (Pa.) University, 91-60, in the first round of the Avalon Classic at Gannon University. NKU, the defending NCAA Division II national champion, will face Gannon at 3 p.m. Saturday in the tournament championship game. NKU owns a 25-game winning streak dating back to last season. NKU built a 45-25 halftime lead by shooting 55.2 percent from the field. NKU coasted past Edinboro in the second half as Polosky, Michelle Cottrell (16 points), Heather Livingstone (15 points) and Julie Cowens (14 points) all scored in double figures. Cottrell also grabbed 10 rebounds for NKU, which forced Edinboro into 34 turnovers. Polosky made a trio of three-pointers for the Norse, who shot 54.4 percent from the field for the game.
