HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Michele Tuchfarber scored 15 points Thursday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, 88-61, in Regents Hall. Heather Livingstone added 12 points and nine assists as NKU improved to 10-0 overall, 4-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU has now won 34 consecutive games, the nations longest winning streak. The Norse have not lost since Jan. 8, 2000, when Bellarmine posted a 76-72 win against NKU in Regents Hall. The all-time record for consecutive victories in Division II womens basketball is held by North Dakota State University, which won 49 straight games during a two-year span (1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons). If NKU goes unbeaten in the regular season, the Norse will break the consecutive victory record on Feb. 24 against Quincy University in Regents Hall. NKU is now 49-3 in its last 52 games against GLVC opponents during the past three seasons. The Norse shot 56.9 percent from the field and held SIUE (5-4, 1-3 GLVC) to 38.3 percent shooting from the field. NKU will travel to Evansville, Ind., Saturday night for a 6:15 p.m. game with University of Southern Indiana.
