Flanagan scores 20 as Norse extend win streak to four |

ST. LOUIS - Bridget Flanagan and Amy Mobley combined for 39 points Thursday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 82-62, at the Mark Twain Building. Flanagan, a senior guard and a graduate of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, scored 20 points as NKU improved to 11-3 overall. Mobley, a senior forward and a graduate of Harrison (Ohio) High School, added 19 points and seven assists as the Norse won their fourth straight game. NKU is now 7-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and in sole possession of first place in the league standings. Bellarmine University and the University of Indianapolis - the GLVC co-leaders entering this week - both lost Thursday and are now 6-2 in the GLVC. NKU built a 38-26 halftime lead by holding Missouri-St. Louis (7-7, 2-7 GLVC) to just 31.4 percent shooting from the field. Flanagan scored 11 points in the first half, while freshman Sharell Snardon came off the bench and added seven points. Mobley scored 13 points in the second half as NKU - ranked No. 22 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll - coasted to the victory. The Norse shot 60 percent from the field for the game and also made 84.2 percent of their free throws. Snardon finished with nine points and six rebounds, while teammate Kristin Polosky added 10 points and four steals. Christy Lane led Missouri-St. Louis with 19 points. NKU is now 11-1 all-time against Missouri-St. Louis and owns nine consecutive wins against the Riverwomen. The Norse are 7-0 all-time at the Mark Twain Building against Missouri-St. Louis. NKU will play at the University of Southern Indiana at 2 p.m. Saturday. Southern Indiana (6-9, 4-4 GLVC) upset Bellarmine, 90-72, Thursday night at the PAC Arena. |
