QUINCY DEFEATS NKU, 61-52

Stuckman scores 16 points, grabs four rebounds to lead Lady Hawks

QUINCY, Ill. - Jessica Stuckman and Lisa Farrell combined for 31 points Thursday night as the Quincy University women's basketball team posted a 61-52 win over Northern Kentucky University.

Stuckman finished with 16 points as Quincy swept the season series from NKU for the first time in history. Farrell added 15 points as the Lady Hawks - ranked No. 12 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll - improved to 13-2 overall, 7-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Quincy held a 27-23 halftime lead after holding NKU (10-4, 5-3 GLVC) to just 30 percent shooting from the field. The Lady Hawks opened the second half with a 12-3 run to build a 39-26 advantage, and Quincy extended its lead to as many as 19 points.

Connie Myers led 22nd-ranked NKU with 22 points and nine rebounds, and Karmen Graham added nine points. The Norse, however, committed 12 of their 16 turnovers in the second half and were just 3-for-14 from three-point range.

“I really thought that Connie Myers played well,” said NKU head coach Nancy Winstel.

The Norse starting backcourt was held to 2-11 shooting and produced only four points. NKU shot 3-14 from three-point range for a mere 21.4 percent.

"You got to have someone from the perimeter to show up, and we just didn't,” said Winstel.

Jessica Brock scored eight points and added seven rebounds for NKU, which dropped a 76-59 decision to Quincy earlier this season in Regents Hall.

The Norse will conclude the two-game GLVC road trip with a 2 p.m. contest at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday.
