NKU POSTS 82-61 WIN AT SAINT JOSEPH’S

Cottrell scores 25 points as Norse improve to 12-1

RENSSELAER, Ind. - Michelle Cottrell scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team defeated Saint Joseph’s College, 82-61, at the Scharf Alumni Fieldhouse.

Cottrell scored 14 points during the first half as NKU jumped out to a 45-20 lead. The Norse, who improved to 12-1 overall, 6-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, held Saint Joseph’s to 18.5 percent shooting from the field during the first half and never trailed.

The Norse, ranked No. 5 nationally in the Division II poll, are now 51-4 in their last 55 games against GLVC opponents.

Bridget Flanagan, starting in place of injured senior guard Michele Tuchfarber, scored in double figures for the second straight game with 11 points. Kristin Polosky scored 10 points and had five rebounds for NKU, and Heather Livingstone added 10 points.

The Norse now own 13 consecutive victories over Saint Joseph’s during the past seven years. NKU has not lost to Saint Joseph’s since the 1993-94 season, when the Pumas posted a 72-67 victory against the Norse at Rensselaer, Ind.
