HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Michelle Cottrell and Amy Mobley both recorded double-doubles Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated Saint Josephs College, 97-80, in Regents Hall. Cottrell finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds - her 45th career double-double - as NKU improved to 12-2 overall, 9-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Mobley had 14 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and four blocked shots for the Norse, who are ranked No. 3 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. The victory was the 399th for NKU head coach Nancy Winstel, who is looking to become the first basketball coach in Norse history to reach the 400-win plateau. She can record her 400th victory with NKU this Wednesday when the Norse travel to Frankfort, Ky., to meet Kentucky State University at 5:30 p.m. Saint Josephs (4-11, 3-6 GLVC) shot 55.2 percent from the field during the first half and trailed by just six points (49-43) at the break. NKU, however, shot 61.3 percent from the field in the second half and coasted to the win. Bridget Flanagan scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the first half for NKU. Suzie Smith added 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Norse. NKU now owns 15 consecutive victories over Saint Josephs during the past eight years. NKU has not lost to Saint Josephs since the 1993-94 season, when the Pumas posted a 72-67 victory against the Norse at Rensselaer, Ind.
