Norse senior named GLVC Player of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Bridget Flanagan has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball.

Flanagan, a senior guard and a graduate of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, averaged 25.5 points per game last week as the Norse claimed sole possession of first place in the GLVC with two road victories. She started the week by scoring 20 points during an 82-62 win at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

She then poured in a career-high 31 points Saturday as the Norse posted a 98-82 win at the University of Southern Indiana. In that game, Flanagan hit 7 of 10 three-point attempts as NKU set a school record by making 15 of 25 from beyond the arc.

She scored 19 points in the second half as NKU broke open a close game.

For the week, Flanagan scored 51 points (25.5 ppg), shot 56.3 percent from three-point range, hit eight of nine free throws (.889) and she also dished out six assists (3.0 apg). NKU is now 12-3 overall, and the Norse lead the GLVC with an 8-2 record.
