Mobley scores 20 points as Norse win 20th game |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Amy Mobley scored 20 points Thursday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 87-74, in Regents Hall. Dana Schubeler added 19 points and nine rebounds as the Norse improved to 20-5 overall, 16-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. It marked the fourth consecutive season that NKU has won at least 20 games. The Norse - who trailed 44-42 at halftime - used a 13-3 run late in the second half to defeat Missouri-St. Louis. Michelle Cottrell added 14 points and six rebounds for the Norse, who are ranked No. 9 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. Cottrell now has 2,056 career points and is NKUs all-time leading scorer. Bridget Flanagan also added 14 points for the Norse. NKU is ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA II Great Lakes Region ratings, and the top six teams in that poll will qualify for the NCAA Division II Tournament in March. NKU clinched a tie for the GLVC regular-season title with the victory. The Norse lead the University of Southern Indiana (22-5 overall, 15-4 GLVC) by one game going into Saturdays contest against Quincy (Ill.) University. Southern Indiana defeated Bellarmine University, 96-85, on Thursday to remain alive for the GLVCs No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament. |
