Cottrell reaches 1,500-point mark as NKU improves to 16-2 |

KENOSHA, Wis. - Amy Mobley and Bridget Flanagan both scored 13 points Thursday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 71-48, at De Simone Gymnasium. Michelle Cottrell added 10 points and eight rebounds as NKU improved to 16-2 overall, 10-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are ranked No. 7 nationally in the Division II poll. Cottrell became the first junior in Norse womens basketball history to reach the 1,500-point plateau Thursday. She now has 1,500 career points (No. 4 in Norse history) and needs just two points to move into third place past Lori McClellan (1,501 career points) on the NKU all-time scoring list. Cottrell also moved into fifth place on the Norse all-time rebounding list Thursday with 766 career rebounds. She moved past Teresa Rump (764 rebounds) into fifth place on the NKU all-time rebounding list. |
