NKU DEFEATS KWC, 73-62

Mobley scores 19 points as Norse win 16th straight home game

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Amy Mobley scored 19 points and dished out four assists Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College, 73-62, in Regents Hall.

Bridget Flanagan and Connie Myers each added 15 points as NKU improved to 18-4 overall, 14-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU remained unbeaten at home this season (12-0), and the Norse are 38-2 in Regents Hall during the past three years.

NKU has won 16 straight at home, with the last defeat a 72-59 setback against Bellarmine on Jan. 19, 2002. The Norse - who have beaten Kentucky Wesleyan 11 consecutive times - shot 51.8 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle by a 41-28 margin.

Kristin Polosky finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists for NKU, which is ranked No. 21 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. The Norse are also ranked No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region poll.

The top eight teams in that poll will advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament in March, with the No. 1 seed hosting the entire regional.

NKU will play host to Brescia (Ky.) University at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the Norse will face GLVC-leading University of Indianapolis at 5:30 p.m. next Saturday in the home finale of 2002-03.
