NKU DEFEATS INDIANAPOLIS, 72-38

Cottrell gets double-double as NKU records 20th win

INDIANAPOLIS - Michelle Cottrell scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Tuesday night as the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team defeated the University of Indianapolis, 72-38, at Nicoson Hall.

Julie Cowens added 17 points for NKU, which improved to 20-2 overall, 14-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are in sole possession of first place in the GLVC standings and ranked No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region poll.

Cottrell’s double-double was the 33rd of her career. NKU, ranked No. 6 nationally in the Division II poll, is 59-5 in its last 64 games against GLVC opponents. The Norse are also 16-2 on the road against GLVC foes during the last two seasons.

NKU has now won 12 consecutive games against Indianapolis. The last time Indianapolis defeated NKU was during the 1995-96 season at Nicoson Hall, when the Greyhounds pulled out a 74-64 victory against the Norse.
