NKU senior earns GLVC co-Player of the Week award

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Michelle Cottrell has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference co-Player of the Week.

Cottrell, a graduate of Boone County High School, averaged 18.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and shot 72.4 percent from the floor in leading NKU to a 3-0 week to earn the honor. Cottrell began the week by scoring 18 points as NKU defeated the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 64-60, in Kenosha, Wis.

She came back on Thursday to pour in 26 points and grab 15 rebounds as NKU defeated the University of Indianapolis, 66-53. Cottrell finished the week by scoring 11 points Saturday as NKU cruised by Salem International University, 78-45.

Cottrell now has 1,812 career points, and she needs just 72 points to pass Peggy Vincent (1,883 points) and become NKU’s all-time career scoring leader.

Cottrell shared the GLVC Player of the Week honor with Quincy University’s Lisa Farrell.
