COTTRELL LEADS NKU PAST INDY, 84-71

 

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Sophomore forward Michelle Cottrell scored 18 points Tuesday night as the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team defeated the University of Indianapolis, 84-71, in Nicoson Hall.

Cottrell, who was unable to start the game due to illness, scored 14 points in the second half as NKU rolled past the Greyhounds. Junior guard Michele Tuchfarber added 16 points for NKU, and teammates Heather Livingstone (14 points) and Amy Mobley (13 points) also scored in double figures.

NKU won the rebounding battle by a 39-20 margin, and the Norse held Indianapolis’ Elizabeth Ramsey - an All-GLVC performer - to just nine points. NKU also made 50 percent of its shots from the field and limited Indianapolis to just 40.8 percent shooting.

NKU improved to 4-0 overall, 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse will play host to Lander (S.C.) University this Friday night at 7:45 p.m. in the first round of the Perkins/NKU Classic in Regents Hall.
