Burrows scores 15 points as Norse win third straight game |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Elizabeth Burrows scored a career-high 15 points and added four assists Monday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 73-43, in Regents Hall. Burrows, a sophomore guard and a graduate of Eastern Brown (Ohio) High School, scored 11 points and made a trio of three-point shots in the first half as NKU built a 44-21 lead. The Norse shot 53.1 percent from the field in the first half and made 8 of 17 three-point attempts. Bridget Flanagan added 11 of her 13 points in the first half as NKU won its third consecutive game and improved to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse held a 51-28 rebounding advantage and limited Missouri-St. Louis to just 29.1 percent shooting from the field. NKU jumped out to a 25-7 lead midway through the first half when Burrows connected on a three-point shot. The Norse led by as many as 36 points in the second half and coasted to the victory. Connie Myers and Amy Mobley each added 13 points for NKU, which owns a 10-1 lead in the all-time series with Missouri-St. Louis (3-2 overall, 0-2 GLVC). Kristin Polosky finished with nine points, eight assists, six rebounds and four blocked shots for the Norse. Simonie Benion led Missouri-St. Louis with 10 points. NKU will travel to Owensboro, Ky., this Thursday for a 6:15 p.m. game at Kentucky Wesleyan College. The Norse will also face Bellarmine University at 5:45 p.m. this Saturday in Louisville, Ky. |
