Norse extend nations longest win streak to 32 straight games |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Michelle Cottrell scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds Wednesday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated the University of Saint Francis (Ind.), 88-71, in Regents Hall. NKU (8-0) has now won 32 consecutive games dating back to last season. The Norse - ranked No. 1 nationally in the Division II poll - have not lost since Jan. 8, 2000, when Bellarmine posted a 76-72 win against NKU in Regents Hall. The 32-game winning streak is the longest in the nation. Saint Francis (13-2) entered Wednesdays game ranked No. 1 nationally in the NAIA II poll, but the Cougars made just 42 percent of their shots from the field and lost the rebounding battle by a 38-29 margin. Cottrell has now scored 1,349 career points and moved into seventh place on the NKU all-time scoring list Wednesday. Heather Livingstone added 20 points for NKU, and Michele Tuchfarber scored 16 points. NKUs next game will be at 2 p.m. on Dec. 30, when Ferris State University visits Regents Hall.
