MOBLEY LEADS NKU TO 78-45 VICTORY

Norse remain unbeaten (5-0) with win over Salem International

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Amy Mobley scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team defeated Salem International University, 78-45, in Regents Hall.

Mobley scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the first half as NKU (5-0) built a 39-19 lead. The Norse limited Salem International (0-3) to just 26.9 percent shooting from the field in the first half.

Bridget Flanagan scored 17 points and added three steals for the Norse, who extended their Regents Hall win streak to 28 consecutive games. NKU has not lost at home since Jan. 8, 2000, when Bellarmine posted a 76-72 win against the Norse in Regents Hall.

Michelle Cottrell added 11 points and six rebounds for NKU. Cottrell now has 1,812 career points, and she needs just 72 points to pass Peggy Vincent (1,883 points) and become NKU’s all-time career scoring leader.

NKU made 53.1 percent of its shots from the field and forced Salem International into 24 turnovers. The Norse won the rebounding battle by a 44-34 margin.

NKU will play host to Kentucky Wesleyan College at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday night in Regents Hall.
