HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - For the past 22 years, Peggy Vincents 1,883 career points have stood as the all-time scoring record at Northern Kentucky University. That record, however, is about to be surpassed by senior forward Michelle Cottrell, and it could happen during the second annual Community Recorder Classic this Thursday or Friday (Dec. 20-21) in Regents Hall. Cottrell, a graduate of Boone County High School, needs just 33 points to become the Norses all-time career scoring leader. Cottrell enters the Community Recorder Classic with 1,851 career points and is averaging 20.1 points per game. If she maintains her average, Cottrell should break the NKU all-time record in Fridays championship game. NKU will meet the University of Alabama-Huntsville at 7:45 p.m. Thursday as the point countdown for Cottrell officially begins. Her career high is 32 points, set against Lewis in 1999. |
