CASEY, BUROKER SPARK NKU PAST SIUE

 

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Junior setter Bobbi Casey had four service aces, 33 assists and six kills Saturday as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team improved to 17-1 with a 15-7, 15-7, 15-8 victory over Southern Illinois at Edwardsville in Regents Hall.

NKU, now 7-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, also received standout performances from junior middle hitter Jessica Buroker (12 kills, .550 hitting percentage) and senior outside hitter Jenny Jeremiah (11 kills, 24 digs). The Norse, ranked No. 6 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, also controlled play at the net and finished with 26 assisted blocks and a solo block (14 total team blocks).

SIUE, which played NKU in last season’s Great Lakes Region championship match, dropped to 11-6 overall, 4-2 GLVC.

NKU will return to action this Tuesday night when the Norse travel to Louisville, Ky., for a 7:30 p.m. match against Bellarmine.
