Gastright leads 12th-ranked Norse with 30 kills |

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Junior outside hitter Bethany Gastright had 30 kills and six blocks Wednesday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated the University of Indianapolis, 15-9, 12-15, 15-7, 16-14. Senior middle hitter Jessica Buroker added 19 kills and 19 digs for the Norse, ranked 12th nationally in the Division II poll. NKU improved to 9-2 overall, 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU has never lost to Indianapolis and now leads the all-time series, 27-0. Junior middle hitter Julie Hathorn recorded 17 kills, four service aces and eight blocks, and freshman setter/defender Sara Taylor had 20 digs. NKU now owns 37 consecutive victories against GLVC opponents after Wednesdays victory at Indianapolis. The last time NKU lost to a GLVC opponent was on the road at Southern Illinois at Edwardsville on Sept. 25, 1998, when the Cougars defeated the Norse in five games. NKU will play host to Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne at 7 p.m. Friday night in Regents Hall. |
